Roblox sues??
Social and gaming platform Roblox is suing a YouTube creator who had been blocked from the platform previously for being revealing and sexual content.
YouTuber Benjamin Robert Simon alias Ruben Sin was sued by The Roblox Company for violating user contracts, violating anti-hacking rules, and threats of crime.
"Defendant Simon is a cybermob leader who with hatred, deception and bullying committed and encouraged unlawful acts designed to harm Roblox and its users," said the Roblox lawsuit, quoted from The Verge, Thursday (11/25/2021).
In this lawsuit, Roblox demanded compensation of USD 1.65 million. Previously, Polygon reported this lawsuit in California.
In the report, Roblox said it blocked Ruben Sin from the platform for trying to upload a near-nude photo of himself, a picture of Adolf Hitler, and a 'sex game' that was banned on the Roblox platform. The reason is, most Roblox users are children.
Ruben Sin also allegedly harassed other Roblox members using racial and homophobic insults. He also pretends to be a Roblox employee.
Worse yet, after being blocked from Roblox, the YouTuber then continued to try to log into Roblox with a fake account and circumvent the hardware ban and its IP address. He also encouraged his approximately 76,000 YouTube followers to do the same.
Roblox calls it a platform hacking attempt. The most severe impact is thought to have occurred during the Roblox Developers Conference last October.
The lawsuit says that ahead of the developer conference, Simon engaged his Discord followers and glorified the perpetrators of the April 3, 2018 shooting and murder case at YouTube's San Bruno, California headquarters. Ruben Sin also threatened to carry out acts of terrorism at the Roblox headquarters.
During the Roblox developer conference, Ruben Sin also tweeted that the local police were looking for Islamic extremists and said the extremists had posted a video titled "Someone blew up Roblox now!"
