Digital Foundry: Final Fantasy VII Remake PC Performance Becomes the “Worst”

In recent days, Square Enix has become a hot topic of discussion among gamers. The reason is, they have just released a port of a PlayStation Exclusive game called Final Fantasy VII Remake to the PC platform. Unfortunately, this release was beyond expectations. Even Digital Foundry admits that Final Fantasy VII Remake PC's performance is the "Worst."

Precisely on December 16, 2021 ago, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was finally released to PC exclusively through Epic Games. This game is priced at 70 USD in the outer region or around 1 million Rupiah in the Indonesian region. Given the price of the game is already very expensive, many gamers hope to be able to enjoy this game on PC like PlayStation users. However, those hopes were dashed due to severe Optimization.

Final Fantasy VII Remake PC Performance Portion Becomes the Worst

Square Enix is actually very famous for its porting games that are always bad. Games like NieR Automata have also received negative responses when they were first released to PC. However, the problem recurs and is even worse than the previous one. This has been proven directly by Media as well as well-known Hardware Analysis, namely Digital Foundry and ResetEra.

Through the Twitter account of Digital Foundry analyst Alexander Battaglia, he said that the performance of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade PC was classified as the "Worst." Battaglia has done his testimony and found that he has also experienced this problem in the games No Man's Sky and The Medium. Problems such as in-game stutters, lost frames, and not being able to reach 60FPS can be easily found in the game.

Bagattaglia himself claims to use Hardware i9 10900K, Nvidia RTX 3090 with a resolution of only 1080p. Responding to this testimony, ResetEra analyst Alex said that Final Fantasy VII was “the worst AAA port game he has ever experienced.” It even suggested that “you shouldn't have to buy this game.” According to him, this is a big mistake from the Publisher who has just released the game at a price of 70 USD.

On the other hand, Jade King as a reviewer from TheGamer also made a testimonial using the AMD Ryzen 5 1500X CPU and Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti 16GB RAM. He found that the results were even more optimal than Alexander Battaglia's GTX 3090. This proves that Square Enix seems to only optimize the old hardware rather than the new one. What do you think, have you experienced this?
